Franklin and Lyndale Then and Now

1920

In 1993, two of Minnesota’s leading providers of services for the blind, the Minneapolis Society for the Blind and the Saint Paul Society for the Blind merged to create what is now Vision Loss Resources. The two organizations have a history of offering service and assistance dating back to 1914. On July 4th, 1920 The Watkins Good Company announced the opening of their new Garage, now occupied by Vision Loss Resources, with a full page ad in the Minneapolis Tribune. The Minneapolis Society for the Blind took over the building during the depression.

This one I found particularly sad. Such a drab, ugly corner– and one that most Uptown residents see A LOT in their daily lives. Oh well, every corner can’t be pretty, I suppose…
