James J. Hill’s Railroad and Bank Building Then and Now
1924
Built to house James J. Hill’s Great Northern Railroad, the Northern Pacific Railroad and the First National Bank and related Northwestern Trust Company this massive, fourteen-story Railroad and Bank Building opened in 1916 it was the largest office building in the Upper Midwest. And it would remain the largest until the fifty-one story I.D.S. building was completed in 1973.
