Jazz Age Health Care in Wayzata
Scenes from the Minnetonka Hospital, Martinson Clinic and surrounding area on Lake Street in Wayzata. The Clinic was founded in 1928. I can’t find a date for the footage, but I’m guessing it was taken just a couple years later. The Minnetonka Hospital was located in a house built by early Wayzata doctor James I. Tibbetts. The 15 bed facility was known for delivering babies simple surgeries like tonsillectomies and appendectomies. Over the years, 1,545 babies were delivered with the first one born in 1929 and the last one delivered December of 1963, just before the hospital was closed.
