Old Dutch Chips in Space
In 1934 Old Dutch started started their potato chip business in St. Paul. In 1937 they moved across the river to Minneapolis. Old Dutch opened a plant in Winnipeg, Manitoba, in 1954 to manufacture chips for the Canadian market. The head office for Canadian operations remains in Winnipeg. Although American Old Dutch moved it’s head quarters out to Roseville in 1968 they still maintain a potato chip and corn product facility in Minneapolis. Potato chip flavors available in the United States include the flagship Regular flavor, as well as Sour Cream & Onion, Cheddar & Sour Cream, Dill Pickle, Bar-B-Q, and Onion & Garlic. Ripple Chips are available in Original, French, Mesquite Bar-B-Q, and Loaded Spud varieties. In addition to their famous chips Old Dutch makes Dutch Crunch kettle-cooked chips, cheese puffs, Puffcorn, Restaurante Style tortilla chips, pretzels, dips, salsas, and beef jerky. Many of the same products are available in Canada. There are also chip flavors you just can’t find in the states like Ketchup, All Dressed, Crispy Bacon, and Salty Vinegar.

Sometimes it seems like 1) it’s easier to find Old Dutch in Canada than in the US, and 2) Old Dutch is my favorite thing about Minnesota.
