On Ashland Avenue Then and Now
Built in 1891 this is one of at least two houses on the block sporting a coat of arms. The other sits across the street. Ashland Avenue isn’t really named for anything. The name was selected in 1870. The street runs east and west between Laurel and Holly. Senator Paul and Sheila Wellstone used to live on Ashland about four or five blocks from this place. I don’t think their house had a coat of arms displayed above the front door. I wonder what a Wellstone Coat of Arms would look like?
