The Ballad of a Thin Man at the Civic Center
In 1978 Bob Dylan went on tour. He performed 114 shows in Japan, the Far East, Europe and America. Over two million people came out and paid to see him. Dylan assembled an 8 piece band and the obligatory female three back up singers for the shows. Tokyo concerts in February and March were recorded for the live double album, Bob Dylan At Budokan. The 1978 tour brought in 20 million dollars. Dylan told the newspapers he had some debts to pay off. He had put a lot of money into the movie, Renaldo and Clara, built a big house and it was expensive to get divorced in California. Bootlegs of Bob Dylan’s 1978, Halloween Show at the good old Saint Paul Civic Center are all over the web. Dylan was very talkative and delivered one heck of a performance.
