The Ryan Hotel
When the Ryan Hotel opened in in July of 1885 it was the first building in Saint Paul to rise above 6 floors. The Ryan dominated the northeast corner of 6th and Robert until it was demolished in 1962.A parking lot replaced the hotel until the Minnesota Mutual Life home office was built on the site in 1981.
