Getting Hip with HHH
In 1968 Mark Lindsay was riding high with the latest incarnation of Paul Revere & the Raiders. Dick Clark created a show, to be hosted by Paul Revere and Mark Lindsay. “Happening ’68″ premiered in January . The show was so popular that the group also hosted a daily version over the summer, called “It’s Happening”. In August Vice President Hubert H. Humphrey sat down with Mark Lindsay. Teenage audience members asked Humphrey questions regarding the voting age, the draft, Vietnam, and the Paris peace talks. Happening ’68 survived into 1969, at which point the name of the show became “Happening”. Other guests included Mick Jagger, Clint Eastwood, Barbara Hershey and Steppenwolf. The show was canceled in October 1969.
