The Investors Diversified Services Unveiling
In June of 1969 Investors Diversified Services unveiled detailed plans for the redevelopment of an entire downtown block with a 57 story tower. After completion it’s completion in 1972, the IDS building became the tallest building west of Chicago. Coming in 225 feet taller than the Foshay Tower, IDS dominated the view of downtown from every angle . The photo above shows Stuart Stillway, president of Investors Diversified Services and William M. Baker president of IDS Properties discussing a stock market decline just prior to announcing the IDS project.
