Seeing Double at Bridal Veil Falls
You can still find this small waterfall just north of the Franklin Ave bridge. These falls were once the endpoint of Bridal Veil Creek, but the creek was incorporated into the sewer system and now runs underground.
The falls are about 15 ft below East River Road and about 100 ft above the Mississippi River. The water comes out of concrete openings, cascades over a flat platform before dropping off a cliff and draining into the river.
The portion of East River Road near the falls had begun to deteriorate and sink in recent years, so for most of 2006 it was closed and rebuilt with a wider sidewalk and a curved area around the falls for viewing.
