Pierre Invites You to a New Radisson

In 1957 the Radisson Hotel in Minneapolis started a $7-million refurbishing project that added 140 rooms. A new Flame Room, a new “arcade” space for retail shops, a larger Star of the North Grand Ballroom, and an overhauled lobby area gave the hotel a modern look. The new rooms brought the hotel’s total up to 565. The remodel also included a sleek, 16 story, rust-and-white-colored facade on 7th Street side of the building. The refurbish was completed in 1961. The Radisson closed twenty years later in 1981 and after almost 73 years the old hotel came down in 1982. A new 357-room Radisson Hotel opened in 1987 as part of a hotel and office complex called Plaza VII.
