Here’s a lovely aerial view of the old Suburban Motel out in Crystal. The place was about 3 miles northwest of the city and boasted 40 units with private bathrooms and showers. Rooms were heated with thermostatically controlled vented gas floor furnaces. I found this old card on ebay, but I should have checked over on the Postcardy Blog first. This card and another view of the Suburban are featured on her Motel Morgue page. I remember a whole string of motels along that stretch of old Highway 52. On of them, called the Electric Bungalow, had a animated blue neon lightning bolt. When I close my eyes I can still see it flashing in the rain.
Was this the motel they used to film “Feeling Minnesota” with Keanu Reeves”?
Probably, maybe?
