In 1908 these postcard were issued and the Romanesque-style Masonic Temple on Hennepin was decorated and a variety of events were held around town especially for our funny, fez wearing friends. the Shriners were started by 13 New York City Masons in 1872. Only top-level Masons can become Shriners. A number Shriner conventions have been held including i1917, 1934, 1957 and 1979. As recently as 2003 more than 10,000 Shriners put a fez on their head and and assembled in full regalia at the Minneapolis Convention Center
