What does Minnetrista Mean?
Minnetrista was called German Home by the county commissioners when it was settled in 1854. The name was changed to Minnetrista by a vote of settlers when the area was organized in 1859. Minne is the Dakota word for waters and trista seems like a made up word for crooked. The name may have been chosen because of the zigzag outline of Whaletail or Ox Yoke Lake.
