@JW: Thanks for the comment! It’s great to hear you and your family felt the kindness I sensed. Our waitress forgot our pie in the thick of the lunch rush and didn’t charge us. We paid anyway- gotta do my part to help them stick around for many years to come!

Peter’s is my favorite restaurant in town. Peter always gives my 3-year-old son a mint patty as we pay, and half the time the waitress gives him free ice cream.
It reminds me of the coffee shop on “Seinfeld” in that they’d probably fix anything you ordered. The hard-boiled egg story sounds just right. They’ll treat you right.
This place is an institution that I would be shattered to lose. And if I worked downtown I would eat here at minimum three times per week.

I went to Peter’s once for lunch while I was working in Minneapolis a few years ago. My memories are of standard, non-distinct diner food, a classic look, Bert Blyleven walking by our window, and a big fuss on the menu and in the restaurant about Clinton eating there during his presidency. I seem to remember them being closed for renovations for a while. I wonder how much that impacted business after they reopened. The place was pretty empty when I was there.
