  Associated Bank is the successor to Liberty State Bank, which opened its doors at Selby and Snelling in 1917. Associated came into the neighborhood after acquiring First Federal Capital Corporation and Liberty in 2004.  

Hennepin Avenue’s Steel Arch Bridge

Construction of Hennepin Avenue’s steel arch bridge started in 1888 and was completed in 1891. This bridge was designed by Minneapolis bridge engineer, Frederick Cappelen, who designed many of the large concrete arch bridges over the river in the early 1900s.
