Sleizer’s Club once served man sized drinks in a distinctively different Atmosphere. If you walked in on a weekend nights you could dine and dance to the swell sounds of Rollie Anderson’s Hammond Organ and the “Sleizer Family” dance band. On August 3rd, 1946 Billboard Magazine reported a $10,000 damage suit was instituted by Sleizer’s Club 21 owner Irene G. Sleizer, against Billy B. Hoke, columnist, and the Minneapolis Shopping News. The paper claimed that Sleizer purchased her liquor license for $70,000 and this resulted in her landlord seeking to file a lease cancellation suit. The Shopping News published a retraction. In 1970, John Sleizer died in Pheonix at the age of 95. Sleizer’s Club alter became a top notch drinking spot known as Duff’s.
