The Purity Baking Company, known as the world’s greatest bakery, is located on what is known as Purity Square, on 12th, Robert, Summit and Minnesota streets. Open from 9 a. m. to 5 p. m., for guests and visitors, and there are guides on duty during those hours who will show any persons interested the entire workings of the plant. The building proper is the very best that could be put up. Materials used are of the highest grade and no expense was spared in making the building artistic and substantial, both in exterior and interior. The most modern machinery obtainable for baking purposes is in stalled and the capacity of the plant in loaves is nearly 140,000 per day.
Within the building there is a garage and machine shop where the new automobile trucks are being assembled and built according to their own design and which are prob ably the most beautiful and useful trucks in the Northwest. There is a carpenter shop for the repairing on vehicles, etc., also blacksmith shop for the care of the horses; the immense steam plant where automatic stokers are installed and a wonderfully equipped electrical plant which generates the electricity for the entire building.
The processes of the bread making are most interesting, being carried out along scientific lines and under perfectly sanitary conditions. The air in the plant is being constantly washed by means of our ventilating and humidifying system. The bread scarcely comes in contact with the hands at any time during the baking and is wrapped in sanitary waxed paper on high speed bread-wrapping machines. The very finest ingredients are used and the bakery is endeavoring to fully deserve its reputation for producing products guaranteed 100 per cent pure.
