Located near beautiful Lake Harriet, a display of nearly 200 varieties of roses is seen by more than 125.000 visitors each year. The Lyndale Park Rose Garden, designed Park Superintendent Theodore Wirth, is the second oldest public rose garden in America.
Construction began in 1907 and was completed the following year. An official All America Rose Selections test rose garden was added in 1946. When the season arrives, this lovely acre may contain as many as 60,000 blooms. Magnificent rose gardens are commonplace in the extensive Minneapolis park system.
