At the Antlers

The Antlers sat for decades at the edge of the Lyndale dell and forest. The building offered a large entrance hall into each apartment, comfortably sized rooms with concealed bed, dressing table, glass and lighting fixtures. There were beautiful, large tiled baths with porcelain tubs, sinks and toilets. Full length mirrors were built into the doors. The first floor had a cafe, rest room, parlors, shops and court garden. Guests and residents instinctively noted a homelike, yet exclusive atmosphere. In 1927, the Antlers apartments were purchased by a corporation J.E. Vincent for the reported price of $300,000. Noted psychic reader, “Carlos” stayed at the Antlers and gave reading whenever he passed through. In 1963, the 90 unit building was razed to clear the way for the first phase of the Hennepin-Lyndale bottle-neck redevelopment.
