At the Ranch House

This postcard was originally published by an outfit called Midwest Specialties in the 1950’s. Back in those days you could find a little old place called the Ranch House if you pointed your car south on Lyndale and rolled out to the horizon. The owner, Harriet Long, advertised good food and an environment dedicated to you. Before she got into business in Bloomington, Harriet had a hand in Sleizer’s Club 21, and Gregory’s Restaurants. She was named President of the Minnesota Restaurant Association in 1957.

The place was AAA recommend, adults could eat for $2.50 and up, kids were just $1.50. The menu at the Ranch House had a guide for ordering steaks. Rare was red throughout. Medium rare had a red center. Medium was pink throughout. Well done was no pink or red showing and extra well done was tsk tsk!. On Friday and Saturday Evenings, diners were treated to the soothing sounds of organist Margie Thom.
