The New Post Office

This building contains 362 thousand square
feet of floor area. It was completed in 1934
at a cost of five million dollars. Building
was occupied March 1st, 1935.

Our new post office was completed in 1933 and formally opened on March 9th, 1935. Designed by Léon Eugène Arnal, while he was working for the local architectural firm of Magney & Tusler, the Moderne Art Deco building is clad Kasota limestone from Mankato and and St. Cloud black granite. The building has one of the longest corridors in the Northwest and the lobby contains a 365-foot-long bronze chandelier. The main building is 540 feet long.
