THE SIBLEY HOUSE
MENDOTA, MINNESOTA
Built in 1835 by Henry Sibley
The house still stands near the confluence of the Minnesota and Mississippi Rivers near Fort Snelling. The library in this historic home was used as the temporary capitol of Minnesota Territory by Governor Alexander Ramsey in 1849. The Sibley House is owned and maintained by the Minnesota Daughters of the American Revolution as a museum for the preservation of relics from the old pioneer days.
