Camelot is a recreation of a 15th-century English castle. The restaurant’s interior is as authentic-looking as its exterior: dark. heavy chestnut and oak furniture and paneling, red and black upholstery, and window coverings, medieval armor and weaponry, English pewter and silver, stone walls. candlelight merge to considerable effect.
Unlike establishments where clever decorating overshadows the cuisine. dining at Camelot stands out as a complete experience. To say that the food is authentic would be an injustice. Frankly, the knights and ladies of old Camelot never had it this good. The recreated Camelot will satisfy any gourmet’s fantasy.
Although the prime rib is the best seller. this restaurant is also known for its fish specialties such as delicately prepared Whole Dover Sole, Sauté or fresh eyed Pike, Véronique. Other well prepared dishes are Cöte de Veau. Normande. served with Minnesota wild rice; Le Caneton Entiet aux Péches Flambé, carved at tableside: and outstanding Le Coeur de Filet Sauté Diane; among others. Prix fixe dinners are also available and include, for a very reasonable sum, everything from hors d’oeuvtes to a selection of desserts including excellent Chocolate Mousse and English Trifle. A choice of wine from Camelot’s comprehensive cellar is additional. Camelot is open for lunch and dinner, Monday through Saturday. Reservations are suggested. Jackets and ties are preferred. Major credit cards are accepted. Prices are moderately expensive.
