The New Charlie’s Cafe Exceptionale is a superb adaptation of the origina French Provincial architecture charming in 1949 as it was at its height in France between 1710 and 1795. Its rustic simplicity was typical of the homes of prosperous farmers, and later, well-to-do landowners and nobility. The fine contrasts of warm honey toned oak paneling, the low beamed ceilings, the wide and deep stone fireplaces, the colorful murals on the walls, and bright splashes of color in the carpeting and draperies, all blend together to reflect the gay atmosphere of old Normandy.
In the midst of this extraordinary atmosphere you will find bounteous foods from the finest source of supply, prepared and handled with the delicate skill of world famous chefs, served quietly and efficiently to the patrons of Charlie’s Cafe Exceptionale.
In Minneapolis, I believe that Charlie’s Cafe Exceptionale is the most frequented by men. Good drinks and generous helpings of food bring them in. The fresh-water fish is a specialty; beef in various forms is very popular; breads are excellent. Charlie’s has a pleasing, warm feeling about it.
