A ‘Haven of Rest’ where the aged are welcomed and surrounded with kindness, having the great consolation that they will be assisted until the very end of their lives by the Little Sisters of the Poor. 215 Broadway, N. E. Minneapolis 13, Minnesota.
The Little Sisters of t ho Poor are doing a grand and good work. They have a large building at 213 Broadway in which nearly 100 old and infirm men and women are given comfortable homes and kind treatment. “Hospitality to the aged and ailing poor.” Is a vow taken by this congregation of nuns in addition to the customary ones of their religious life. The Minneapolis branch of the society was established almost 10 years ago. For seven years the work was carried on in a frame building at Tenth Avenue and Second Street Northeast. Work on the brick building. now occupied by the society. was commenced in July, 1893. It was completed and ready for occupancy Feb. 1. 1896. This structure is four stories high, not including the basement. and, with its furnishings, cost $40,000. Now It is too small for the needs of the society. although it is capable of comfortably accommodating 100 old men and women. An addition is desirable, but there are no immediate plans for erecting it.
