About twenty-five miles east and south of Minneapolis, County Seat of Dakota County, a portion of the city of Hastings stretches over into Washington County. Built near the complicated confluence of the Mississippi, Vermillion, and St. Croix Rivers. This fine city is named for the first elected governor of Minnesota, Henry Hastings Sibley. Downtown is truly the ‘Heart of Hastings’. This busy business district is a vibrant mix of shops, office, fine dining and drinking opportunities.
The Spiral Bridge at Hastings, the only one of its kind in the world, was completed in April, 1895. The approach was designed in this manner to avoid spanning the main business street of the city and cutting the section in two.
