I sometimes wonder if people appreciate the recreational and educational facilities offered them by our parks. The other night, my wife, granddaughter, three resident aliens and myself strolled over to Lake Harriet and took a “package trip” which, for a very small fee, entitled us to passage on the launch which circumnavigated the lake. The water was calm, so we did not need any pills to prevent seasickness. A group of friends gathered at the dock to wish us bon voyage and presented us with baskets containing enough snacks to last us the entire trip. The constant panorama of sea. sky and land was a source of delight throughout the whole expedition. The little lake on the southern edge of our fair city is a lovely reminder of how much we all have just a little trolley ride away.
