The Athlete and the Cigarette

To the Editor Of The Tribune:
No athletes under training are allowed to use cigarettes. Tho cigarette smoking boys of several schools, the records of which were investigated. were described by such terms as sallow, sore.eyed, puny. squeaky-voiced, short-winded and extremely nervous. Dr. Seaver, physical director of Yale, found the lungs of the average non-smoker could hold five cubic inches more than the lungs of the cigarette smoker. So a man that smokes is not in good as physical condition as the one who does not smoke. If we send tobacco to our boy at the front they will be in worse condition than when they went.
