Reds Beat Greens, Thereby Winning the Ice Championship in the Two-Team League.
NEW GAME TRIED OUT

Players Are Awarded Seal to Correspond With Athletic “M” of Boys! With much whacking of shins, the Reds won over the Greens in the girls’ hockey game at the University yesterday afternoon by a score of 2 to 0. The battle was staged back of the new women’s gym. and constituted the championship round in the women’s hockey series.

Seal Corresponds to “M.”

Hockey was introduced at the university for the first time this fall. The girls who play are awarded the Women’s Athletic Association seal, which corresponds to the Minnesota “M,” which is given to men athletes. Miss May S. Kissock, assistant women’s physical director, was responsible for the inauguration of the game as a women’s sport. She is pleased with the progress made this year.

Lineup of Teams

The Reds, who are entitled to call themselves the Northwest champions because there are no other women’s hockey teams in this part of the country, were composed of the Misses Roberta Hostettler, captain, Winifred Bailey, Hazel Applegate, Elizabeth Wellington, Mildred Lammers, Lucile Saxton, Harriet Amundson, Marion Shepherd, Emma Waterman, Ann Pederson and Dorothy Waterman. The Greens consisted of the Misses V’Lora Welch, captain, Helen Bryant, Ingerd Nissen, Eleanor Lynch, Dorothy Chapman, Blanche Husby, Lucy Stone, Mildred Bennett, Minnie Elliott, and May Peterson. The game was composed of two 15-minute halves. Miss Kissock acted as referee.
